Excalibur Award
The California Army National Guard's Medical Detachment was awarded the 2003 Surgeon General's Excalibur Award for "outstanding participation on a project that developed and implemented an intensive health intervention and promotion program (HIPP) to increase medical readiness and promote soldier wellness. Results included an increase of 14 percent in lab values and 11 percent in physical training scores as well as an increase in unit morale and spirit of cohesiveness."
